Fancy that

I apologize for being stuck in poetry…it is the most natural literary form for me at this time.

A thousand miles away,
Though fresh your impression stays.
I spent the better half of my day dreaming awake,
A guilty morning for innocence sake.

That night I was forgetting my virtues,
You carried them back to me.
That night I slid into your life,
You stared into mine.

And now I look into strange faces,
Tramp the cobblestones of seductive places.
Like a canine cat I imagine myself,
Reckless in body, emotionally stealth.

You came and I went,
Or I came and your precious time spent.
You made me believe in mirrors,
Or at least you made me want to.
If my reflection could be so sweet,
Then thankful I am that we did meet.

If we were water, where would we flow?
Let droplets rest in my navel; I have a camouflage torso.
Did you know that water is the main ingredient of life?
And I am here to live.
You whet my heart and you whet my mind,
Now I feel a curious rain pour inside.

  1. I do genuinely like this poem. This is so strange and surreal, almost like I’ve been suspended above time, then re-connected, at the point, time and place. where I left. I met You shortly before the previous poem was written, in. the Kylemore cafe in Dublin. I cannot really expect You to remember, especially after all you exotic travels since then. But write, if it’s possible to…below

  2. Giselle, I only found your work, this Year, I’m impressed. I found it in May and I have a letter written since then for You. It’s like stepping through a time portal-since this is a around the Time- I had met You. If You get my E-mail address, send me yours, so I can send on your little letter. Much love, your cafe companion, in Dublin, Aidan.

    1. I most definitely remember you Aidan! How could I forget? I’m so happy you found your way to my old scribbles. I still have ‘Penn’ by Sarah Berkeley, among my most cherished gifts, from an unforgettable character. Thank you for reading my amateur attempts at poetry. It has been quite some time though…I hope to find the time and resolve to begin writing here again. I’ll email you too. Love, always, Giselle.
