Last night

Last night you let me help with dinner.
My hands were working on a meal for more than one.
I saw your table set.
I love that I saw a table set.

Last night we all sat together.
My body fit so neatly into that family room.
The couches and love seat filled so lovely,
I am glad to have shared that presence.

Last night we laughed alot.
I heard mine muffled by your children’s.
Laughter never sounded so pure.
I wish I could bottle some for later.

Last night I helped you tuck the kids in,
It was an honour.
You have fantastic kids.
Then again, they have a wonderful mother.

I am blessed to be linked to this.
And if I fare so fortunate,
I will one day know how it feels;
What it means to be truly significant.
