NaPoWriMo (National Poetry Writing Month)…
My apologies if I’m being rude,
But I’m all out of nice today.
You see I’ve spent my daily good sense,
On people and their exhausting pretence.
I’ve got nothing left to say.
For a sincere soul however,
Pardon I will gladly pay.
What made you sit in that seat beside me?
Did I appear friendly?
Did I itch your curiosity?
Did you think me pretty?
Or was that seat the first you saw empty?
Regardless of your motive I am not enthused.
You feel like another insect buzzing my ear.
I ask myself why you needed to sit right here.
Then you opened your mouth,
And cliché introduced yourself.
I know you knew I was less than entertained,
So you took my short reply and left me the same.
I was able to drink my beer in peace.
I drank it like you were not there.
It tasted just like yesterday’s,
But something somehow made me care.
I turned to give you a pleasant face,
And found the chair cleared once more.
I suppose you took the hint,
Now I sit alone staring at the door.
