A poem to keep going

“Bright colourful musings,
Dazzling in their foreign mystique,
Stupefying in those unguarded charms.
Just when you fancy yourself a handful,
Its been found fleeting once again.

You walk a little ways longer,
And try to forget those sharp edges of memory,
They can be so cruel.
Muscles still tense,
Conditioned to be prepared.

You turn a corner,
And find yourself here.
It looks safe enough to take off your jacket,
But leave the scarf;
Too early to tell.

Those same muscles begin to cease their caution,
The air is crisp, yet softly it envelopes thee.
Don’t lose your sensitivities,
Please,
You are only touching the gate,
Just you wait, you will see.

Past the shattered glass,
Try not to get caught in the pricks of hidden weeds.
There will be ruts and there will be plenty,
Give these no home in that spectacular head.
And don’t lose that friend;
Serendipity.”

written nearly two years ago, and still very much valid

I believe there is something in that poem for everyone. The message is to have faith through every turn of fate. Human emotional defences grow stronger with each obstacle, and force the guarded self to walk ahead of our sensitive heart. It is a simple act of self preservation. Though, in the process we may lose our trust in the way of the world and move numbly through it. I caution not to caution. What gives today meaning is the moments you let yourself go. And you can prove that right when you recall the moments that gave your life meaning, most of them being from chance.

Have a good day and make it so!
